Fi graduated in 2007 with BA (Hons) in Theatre Dance before embarking on an international stage career performing for over a decade in various shows as a dancer/singer. 

 

The discipline of Pilates fundamentally influenced Fi’s approach to body conditioning and injury rehabilitation throughout her career as a professional performer in Paris. During this time, Fi obtained a comprehensive Pilates teaching qualification for the Body Arts and Science International (BASI) Pilates method. Until recently she has been teaching at various studios in Australia including working at an osteopathy clinic, a boutique studio for pre and post-natal clients as well as with people in clinical rehabilitation.  

 

Fi is also adept in the discipline of Yoga. She completed 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training, where she developed a greater appreciation of balance between the body and mind. Fi also has specific training in the delivery of Yoga for pre and post natal clients as well as children and teens.

 

Fi's performing experience combined with her Pilates and Yoga training have all contributed to her holistic approach to assisting clients to improve body conditioning, movement and overall wellbeing. Her teaching style is enthusiastic, animated and encouraging with a keen eye for detail that adapts to the needs of each individual. 

 

Fi enjoys working with ALL clients - whether you want to improve your strength, flexibility and movement, or you are rehabilitating from an injury, or you simply would like to experience Fi's energetic passion for Pilates!

Offering private or small group Pilates classes that are tailored to suit individuals in a relaxed and tranquil environment, Fi ensures you receive the most effective and efficient results from your training. 

 

Classes incorporate a holistic mind body approach with exercises that focus on strengthening all areas of the body, particularly concentrating on core stability, postural alignment, breathing and proprioception. All of these elements play a vital role in improving awareness of your body in space, a key aspect in achieving peak performance and body condition for any activity you do.

Many aspects of our daily lives mean that developing unbalanced muscles and postures is inevitable. The more aware you are of your body and how it works, the more you can correct imbalances and instabilities.

 

"If you drive a car around out of alignment for too long it will wear out your tyres prematurely... well, it's the same for humans! "

 

Fi's approach is to work with clients to activate their muscles and improve their biomechanics. She encourages clients to transfer the techniques they learn in their Pilates classes to their daily life. Developing self-awareness of how your body moves, along with identifying your strengths and weaknesses will give you the tools to optimise your movement in everything you do!

Please note all new clients MUST complete an initial consult of 1.5 hours £60 

 

 The initial consult is to ascertain what you would like to achieve from Pilates classes and will include an assessment of your body mechanics. This involves understanding how you move and identifying any postural irregularities or muscular imbalances that may exist. I will also introduce you to how I typically run Pilates classes and we will talk through any adaptations that may be required to meet your needs. 

 

Whether you are a beginner or experienced in Pilates it is important that I have a thorough understanding of your medical history of past and present injuries, aches and pains, posture, gait and general movement patterns. 

 

I aim to ensure each client has a basic understanding of the movement principles of Pilates: Awareness, Balance, Breath, Concentration, Centre, Control, Efficiency, Flow, Precision and Harmony. These principles are what differentiates Pilates from many other forms of conditioning and make it a holistic mind body approach rather than just a physical process.
